YOUTH SERVICES

Our Youth Programme is managed by a fully qualified and experienced Youth Worker with the support of two Youth Sessional Workers who offer a variety of opportunities and activities for young people to participate in and benefit from.

These opportunities include three Youth Clubs a week for ages between 5 and 19 years old, issue based sessions, a three day structured residential stay and informal educational day trips. The young people who attend the current sessions all live within the local communities.

The project aims to provide young people with opportunities to engage in positive activities, awareness raising through informal education, a safe environment for young people to come and socialise with their peers in, targeted work to meet young people’s issues and needs and reducing anti-social behaviour within the local community in a safe area.

The young people have engaged in activities such as generic youth club sessions, sporting games, pool, table tennis, computer activities, team building activities, issue based discussions, intergenerational work and healthy cooking and eating.

The Youth Project allows young people to gain new experiences and opportunities including a variety of day trips and a 3-day residential stay. We have taken young people who attend the sessions on day trips to places such as Alton Towers, Drayton Manor, go karting, the Blue Planet Aquarium, sports tournaments, various events and paint balling.

The Youth Project have also completed several community projects including intergenerational work with a local residential care home to break down barriers between young people and older people, a Youth Forum with the Big Local North to design and develop a new skate park in the local community for young people to use during their free time. The Youth Work Team also work in partnership with the local schools and professional organisations to allow a multi-agency approach to meet the needs of the young people.
