Volunteering...CAFAG and your Community Centre needs you!
"You get to meet lots of nice people and get a lot of satisfaction helping people"
Volunteers are at the very heart of everything that we do at CAFAG. Without our volunteers
CAFAG simply could not provide the range and quality of activities that we do. Whether you
have the time to volunteer on a regular or occasional basis we'd love to hear from you!
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, gain skills, take an active part in your
community and could lead to employment. It is also a way of giving something back and of
making a huge difference to your community.
Our activities and services are built on local people and what they need. We want you to be
happy here and get the most out of your volunteering experience and we want volunteers to feel valued and cared for.
We welcome the support of volunteers of all ages, but in most circumstances volunteers will need to be over 18 years old. Some volunteering roles will also require a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
Our volunteers can carry out a number of different tasks and positions currently available include:
Our Community Café is open 5 days a week from 8:30am until 1:30pm and serves a delicious menu of great value meals, drinks, snacks and homemade cakes. As a volunteer in the Community Café you will be involved in food preparation and drinks orders following food hygiene standards, serving and cleaning-up and helping to unload deliveries, unpacking and storing food.
Across the year, CAFAG holds many different community and social events and activities for the community to enjoy. Volunteers are needed to help with the set-up and/or running of these events. from setting up the rooms and decorating them for themed events, through to helping with the catering of food and refreshments.
Throughout the year we need people to help maintain the smooth running of the Charity, our office and the Whitfield Valley Centre. Through administrative, office and IT tasks you will be vital in supporting the work of the Charity during our office hours.
Our Board of Trustees are at a governance level for the general control, management and administration of the Charity. Trustees are legally responsible for the organisation. CAFAG are looking for new members to join our Board of Trustees. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future direction and strategic development of a local charity.
You can help put the spotlight on CAFAG through assisting with the promotion and raising awareness of CAFAG and supporting us to write Case Studies, update our website and social media feeds. This includes making sure that our activities and services are heard about at a wider level.
CAFAG employs its own Community Gardener and under his guidance you will help out with daily maintenance of CAFAG's grounds and external gardens. This will include weeding, mowing and edging, digging, planting, sweeping, litter picking, pruning and watering.
